Holiday in the Pyrenees

at Phoenix Barn Holiday Home

Some of the stunning roads and views in the French Pyrenees; a driving or motorcycling pleasure!

What to do in the Pyrenees

The Pyrenees has been described as an enormous adventure playground.  To mix and match with your motorcycling holiday, here’s a taster:

 Cycling

You can follow in the tyre-tracks of The Tour de France.  Alternatively, mountain biking is a pleasure thanks to the off-road trails which suit all levels of cyclist.  Cycle hire can be arranged.

 Bird Watching

There are a number of large bird species in the Pyrenees, including vultures, kites, and eagles.

 Relaxation

The Pyrenees is home to a number of thermal spas, such as Bagneres de Bigorre, Bagneres de Luchon and Capvern les Bains.  People have been coming here since Roman times to experience the curative waters.

 Adventure Activities

You can choose from diverse activities such as: paragliding, rafting, canyoning, climbing, snowshoe walking* and ice snorkeling* (*in winter, evidently)

 Golf

Phoenix Barn is situated within a short distance of five golf courses.  Play on a variety of terrains from mountains to forests and lakes.  Test your skill and enjoy the amazing scenery.

 Shopping

Phoenix Barn is ideally situated to access several towns.  You can find a market locally six days a week.  Hypermarkets can be found around Tarbes.  Tarbes town centre offers high-street labels and ample cafés and bars to enjoy a coffee and rest your weary feet.  Andorra is a pleasant drive of away, to stock up on duty free goodies, or just enjoy the ride.

 Skiing and Snowboarding

Tourmalet offers the largest linked resort in the French Pyrenees with over 100km of pistes.  St Lary Soulan is a ski favourite amongst the French and Spanish.

 Site seeing and Cultural Outings

This is a region full of man-made and natural wonders.  These include: the Cirque de Gavarnie, a UNESCO world heritage site, the Pic du Midi Observatory, the Gargas and Médous Caves, Saint Bertrand de Comminges, Mauvezin Castle, Toulouse, home to the world famous Airbus A380 and Lourdes, the third largest pilgrimage in the world.
